In his first case, criminology grad student Michael Redding is assigned to find a missing woman. Confident he can ferret out the truth, he travels to a small town and begins his investigation. There he interviews an assortment of residents, including a nosey mail carrier, a mechanic riddled with guilt, a store owner who delights in describing the woman’s practical jokes, a senile nursing home resident, and a father whose child died in the arms of the missing woman. None of them know where she came from or why she left town so suddenly. Yet each one unwittingly reveals a clue that could help Michael discover the truth.
During Michael’s search, disturbing tragedies and trauma continue to unfold. Unexpected circumstances change the direction of the investigation when Michael discovers the woman’s true identity. Forced to face the truth, Michael has two choices. Either one would result in life-changing consequences.
