The Universe has existed for 14 billion years, not that long compared to infinity. But it’s a rational place with discrete facts and laws. Question: when did intelligent life first arise? Answer: 2.37 billion years ago, which is enough time to learn most of the aforementioned facts and laws. And these initial beings are collectively known as the First-Born. Only, and this is a significant fact, genesis is a rare phenomenon – life is expensive out there in the Cosmos. In our galaxy, we have only one sentient neighbor – the Pra’at (aka the Grays), and they’re watching and waiting for the Earth to emerge, i.e., be initiated into the club of the civilized – The Continuum. And since Jack has very recently demonstrated knowledge of this “Fourth Level” technology, contact is now permitted. And the word “contact” may easily be confused with the word “invade.” To forestall this, Jack and Jane were given a mission – Jack was to go to Ta-ea, the alien homeworld, to buy Earth some time, and Janey was to organize the building of a starship. For what purpose: so that humanity can venture forth and meet the new neighbors as equals. Of course, problems arise. Jack and Janey incur obstacles and are still wanted criminals (terrorists) on Earth, plus there are factions within the Pra’at. They succeed, just not in the way anticipated.
