Synopsis

The visions were a problem. Samira was a sensible, educated woman. She had a business to run -- or she would if only her older brother could accept the reality. She didn't have time for the prophecies of a mysterious stranger. Especially not when he kept prophesying her elevation in spite of her life coming to pieces.

A forced marriage and a civil war were enough stress to make anyone see things. Or, could the visions be real?

"[Mahmoud's] heartbreaking story is gripping, like a train wreck I can't stop reading about."

-- Jesse Simmons

"What You Meant for Evil is a riveting story. It is especially powerful as it illustrates so many of the struggles that Syrians have gone through over the last 10 years."

-- Jeffrey Hayes, author of Back to the Books! How much do the Bible and the Qur'an actually agree?
