For almost 160 years after slavery was abolished by the Republican Party, African Americans seem to have missed out on the American Dream. They suffer from the highest rates of unemployment, incarceration, homelessness, illiteracy, and poverty. Is racism the cause of this malaise known as "Black Plight," as BLM and many claim? Can Black Plight actually be solved?
To fix this problem, we have to understand precisely the causes of Black Plight and racism. And once we've understood the cause, we have to figure out what steps our nation must take to erase centuries of damage, hopelessness, and incarcerations to allow African Americans to take their rightful place in our nation’s future.
Neil Mammen takes us through little-known history to locate precisely the point where the freed slaves started to lose the American Dream and then walks us through how to ensure they regain it and stop racism in America.
