Love Up Yuh Self, Likkle One is written in poetic form using a mix of English, Patois (Patwa) and Caribbean dialect accompanied by vibrant and fun images reminiscent of the sweet West Indies.
The poetry is inspired by late Jamaican poet and storyteller Louise Bennett-Coverley, known and beloved as “Miss Lou”, whose work has paved the way for literature that celebrates and embraces Caribbean culture and dialects. May her legacy continue to live on.
