Synopsis

“Don’t let this planet defeat you!”

Dust rolls endlessly across a barren and dead world. Just beneath the surface sleeps a boy, marooned and alone, who dreams endlessly of the outside world and the distant stars.

Each night, he asks himself - where do I come from?

Journey through a whirlwind of love, loss and loneliness as Gavril, aided by strange and mysterious abilities which he assumes are inherent to his kind, is forced to battle against trials of both natural and unnatural design.

As each success and failure edges him towards the answer he seeks, Gavril is brought ever closer to the horrors that hide, waiting, behind every darkened corner of this desolate world.

----------------------------------------------

I found writing to be a fantastic source of comfort as my partner and I, entrenched in lockdown like everyone up and down the country, sought out ways to stave off the inevitable boredom.

The bare bones of this story had lingered in the back of my mind for many years, until the pandemic, which for better or for worse, gave me the proper time needed to finally coax them out and on to paper.

Like the protagonist of my story, I struggled at times to see the light at the end of the tunnel whilst dealing with the sometimes overwhelming feelings that isolation and loss brought, but I too was helped through these trials by those nearest and dearest to me.

I dedicate this book to them.

Gavril will return in “The Gaia Particle” - the upcoming conclusion to this two-part series!
