Synopsis

This hilarious new adventure in the Uncle Pete fantasy adventure series takes Uncle Pete and his fearless female sidekick, TM, on an incredible Arctic expedition to get Berg, the little polar bear, back to his family.

Gathering their snow gear, Uncle Peter and TM fit skis on the plane and head north with Berg. When they arrive where the family were last seen, they find that the snow has melted and there is no sign of the bears. A passing whale tells the team that the family have been captured and taken off in a very sinister looking black ship.

There is plenty of excitement - with wooden squirrel helicopters, tunnels, bears in disguises, evil animal hunters and a daring rescue – and a focus on themes of determination, collaboration, ingenuity, kindness and acceptance.

Book one in the series - Uncle Pete and the Boy Who Couldn’t Sleep – was longlisted for the Waterstones Children’s Book Prize 2022.

À propos de l'auteur

David C. Flanagan is a writer and award-winning journalist based in the Orkney Islands. Born, raised and educated in Edinburgh, he studied journalism in the city before returning to his ancestral home in Orkney, where he worked as a reporter on the local weekly newspaper, The Orcadian. He’s been freelance since 2002, providing news, features and content for a variety of publications and websites. David also acts as location manager for film and television crews operating in Orkney. His first book, Board, was published by Fledgling Press in 2015 and recounted his hapless attempts to learn to surf in middleage on the wild Atlantic coast of Orkney. He still surfs, badly, and also loves skateboarding, fitness training and walking in the Scottish mountains. The Uncle Pete series of books is David’s first series for children, reflecting his passion for adventure stories, his love of animals, and his slightly wacky sense of humour.
