Synopsis

The original idea for this book was to provide a warts and all self help guide, based on how we lived with Lyn’s MS and our experiences, to people newly diagnosed with MS, their families or carers new to the role and also to be a legacy for fund raising in Lyn’s name.
Over two years of writing it has evolved into a cross between a self help book, a biography and a love story, it also deals with grief and living after a loved one has passed away.
It is estimated that there are currently 150,000 people in the UK who have been diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis and that this is increasing by approximately 7000 per year, it is an autoimmune disease that affects the central nervous system, currently there is no cure, although there are a number of drugs which can alleviate symptoms of the four types of MS.
Following a number of consultations Lyn was diagnosed with MS in 1989 and then it was confirmed to be primary progressive MS in 1995.
The MS Society were always there to help and support Lyn and over the years she did a lot of voluntary work for the local support group where we lived, producing the newsletter, helping with welfare for other members.
Research into the disease and its causes is vital if a cure is to be found, this is ongoing in the UK and other countries, it is a very expensive process and a lot of it is funded by the MS Society, 50% of the profits from the sales of this book will be donated to the MS Society for research and to help support people with MS.
