Synopsis

Let’s Read Japanese is a series of graded readers for learners of Japanese that provide stimulating stories and a fascinating window into Japanese culture and society. The books include famous stories from Japan and other parts of the world. They include re-tellings of traditional stories, classic tales, and Japanese legends and poems, as well as some newly-commissioned stories. Woven throughout the text are beautiful color illustrations based on classic and contemporary Japanese art thereby ensuring that the books are both a visual and textual delight. The stories will complement any textbook used by a student of Japanese anywhere in the world and are ideal for either classroom or language school use, or for self-study. The collection of five stories in Level 1 Volume 2 includes the traditional Japanese story Izanagi and Izanami and some classic Children’s Games , a re-telling of the classic tale The Green Knight and two new stories The Grandma and Tea House in the Wood and Kozue’s Dream and Challenge.
