Once upon a time, there was a popular middle-aged teacher called Max, who married Citra, a doctor, and they had a beautiful child. And then one day their whole world was turned upside down when there was THE KNOCK at the door... and Max was arrested by six policemen in body armour for downloading indecent images - he knew nothing of - and taken to jail.
You're probably thinking he was guilty, wouldn't anyone? That's the problem with this hideous crime; the mere suspicion of which automatically condemns you. How will Citra, his wife, react? How will Max's school react? How will Max's small town community react? What will happen to his son? He is innocent. Why would the Police think he did it?
Detective Chief Inspector Aria Dedrick, leading the investigation, had a tip-off. One man lurking in the shadows, you see, really doesn't like Max and wants to ruin his life. And now DCI Dedrick will stop at nothing, for her own personal and professional reasons to prove him guilty.
Once the machine starts it's like trying to stop a runaway train and Max can't afford a lawyer. The duty solicitor is next to useless and simply wants him to do a plea deal and admit he's guilty, even if it means losing everything, but Max is determined to fight to prove his innocence.
Based on a true story, in diarized entries over a year, a year before the pandemic, we alternately follow Max and Aria, chapter by cliff-ending chapter, through the harrowing arrest, investigation and trial. Each chapter unpeeling a layer of the onion to the truth at the core.
A new page-turning psychological thriller, from the author of 'What's your Problem? A Game of Truth' (which Max referred to in the trial to defend himself), this dramatized account built like a movie on scenes is like watching a movie, but as if you were in it.
The facts are: Maxwell Winshire was a schoolteacher; Maxwell Winshire was arrested for downloading indecent images; Maxwell Winshire has always maintained innocence.
This is the story of Maxwell Winshire's struggle for truth and journey to redemption.

Prepare for an unrelenting, gut-wrenching journey that will leave you questioning how far you would go to prove your innocence.Independent Research Findings'Between 2015 and 2019, nearly 62,000 obscene publications offences against children were recorded across 39 police forces within England and Wales (Office for National Statistics, 2020). In the same time frame, 8,318,529 unique indecent images of children were added to the Child Abuse Image Database (CAID), with over 700,000 falling into the most severe category of image . Importantly, a substantial parallel has been identified between the volume, availability, and circulation of Indecent Images of Children and the augmentation of the internet (Carr, 2003; Wolak et al., 2011). While possession offences of this nature are not new (the Protection of Children Act 1978 first made Indecent Images of Children possession offences illegal within England, Wales, and Northern Ireland, with similar provisions in Scotland), the number of recorded offences has been growing year by year (Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre, 2012). Despite the true figure not being known, it has been suggested that in 2013, around 50,000 individuals within the United Kingdom downloaded Indecent Images of Children (Giles & Alison, 2021). These growing figures have attracted public interest in recent years.'CONTAINS MATERIAL SOME MAY FIND OFFENSIVE. N° de réf. du vendeur 9781739958930
