Foundations for this book.
In 2009, I acquired an Arts Council contract to deliver creative training in primary education. The brief was ‘to help teachers and children overcome barriers to learning.’

Of course, I knew there are no barriers to learning. Our nervous systems are all magnificent learning machines with infinite capacity and potential. So the only question in my mind, was what the children learning instead of the national curriculum (the real desired outcome of our education system and the standard against which our teachers are measured).

It also highlighted a harsh reality: not many people, teachers included, really understand the mechanics of learning. And I wanted to change that.

So, I set about creating a tried and tested model which has continued to evolve over the past 10 years that educates adults and children alike. Where they understand – HOW THEY LEARN – and how to get intelligent feedback from everyday situations to feed-forward into a happier, more productive and self-managed future.

The model showcased in this book is really a specialist application of NLP for people working/living with children, because using NLP with children is different to working with adults…

The book (which also serves as an excellent introduction to NLP) is packed with case studies of Kay’s work with children, teenagers, schools and families, explaining the neurological and biological processes of subconscious auto-pilot and how we communicate with them. It is the handbook for her Core Model training program.

"Kay brings enormous passion to starting the process of giving all children a healthier mindset in their learning environment. She has left me with an array of Happy Brain tools that have been incredibly useful to aid the development of pupils' self-awareness, resilience and confidence. In addition, she has always been willing to advise me on further progress as my understanding of these power tools deepens."
