Periodista y fotógrafo, Simon Richmond se ha especializado como escritor de viajes desde principios de los noventa, y empezó a trabajar para Lonely Planet en 1999, con la guía Central Asia. Desde entonces ha perdido la cuenta del número de guías de Lonely Planet en las que ha colaborado como documentalista y escritor, pero algunos de los países que ha cubierto son Australia, China, la India, Irán, Japón, Corea, Malasia, Mongolia, Myanmar, Rusia, Singapur, Sudáfrica y Turquía. Rebacca Milner, nacida en California y residente en Tokio desde hace más de 14 años, es coautora de guías Lonely Planet de Tokio, Japón, Corea y China. Autora independiente especializada en viajes, cultura y gastronomía, ha publicado en The Guardian, The Independent, The Sunday Times Travel Magazine, The Japan Times y otros. Tras pasar la mayor parte de su vida como veinteañera trabajando para viajar, le dio la vuelta a la situación en el 2010 uniéndose al equipo de autores de Lonely Planet.
Trent Holden, que tiene su base en Geelong, muy cerca de Melbourne, trabaja para Lonely Planet desde el 2005. Ha contribuido a más de 30 guías, de Australia y de países de Asia y África.
