Synopsis

Naveed is sick of war - of the foreign powers and the Taliban, the warlords and the drug barons that together have torn Afghanistan apart. He's had to grow up quickly to take care of his widowed mother and little sister, making what little money he can doing odd jobs and selling at the markets. When he adopts Nasera, a street dog with extraordinary abilities, he has a chance to help rebuild his country. But will a new friend's betrayal crush his dreams of peace forever? From the winter of war comes the spring of hope.

À propos de l'auteur

John Heffernan's first book, Spud, and its sequels Chips and Pup, introduced readers to a family of cattle dogs who live and work in the countryside of Australia, giving a picture of life on the land through a dog's eyes. Spud was chosen as a notable book by the Children's Book Council of Australia. Other books by John Heffernan include A Horse Called Elvis and My Dog, illustrated by Andrew McLean. My Dog focuses on a young boy named Alija whose unnamed dog helps him to endure a period of adversity while he searches for his family in war-torn Bosnia Herzegovina. John has also written two series for young readers, including the Mythos science-fiction trilogy, which contains the novels CBD and GBH. Set in the far future, the city of CBD is facing severe onslaught from barbarians, and it tells the tale of a powerful tribe that has built its tiny walled city in the ruins of what had been Sydney's central business district.
