Synopsis

A fond look back at dropping out in ’80s Melbourne

"Given his experience, it's no surprise to find he can write." – Caroline Overington, The Weekend Australian
"It's almost like a time-travel novel." – Ben Lindner, host of books podcast Beyond The Zero

Fans of Helen Garner, Tim Winton or John Birmingham may appreciate this finely crafted chronicle of a misspent youth and an unwilling journey to a midlife epiphany.

A curmudgeonly editor on a chain of free newspapers is forced to reflect on his progress. Was he living the dream when he was jobless and broke, and writing stories about getting high with his housemates?
