Synopsis

'The Practice of the Presence of God is' a classic piece of Christian literature that has graced the bookshelves of believers for hundreds of years, and should have a place in the life of every modern Christian. For many of the faithful, this text has been the key to unlocking their spiritual development, and the catalyst by which they have found lasting intimacy with God. Bringing the original writings to life for the modern reader, this contemporary translation is easier to understand, and loses nothing of the original message - the meaning and intent of Brother Lawrence's writings are fully preserved. More than 300 years ago, a man born into poverty and war joined a monastery after a profound spiritual awakening. As a cripple, he was responsible for the most menial tasks at the Priory, but he learned, through time and effort, how to connect with God, deeply and lovingly, at every moment, and especially during his lowly work. 'The Practice of the Presence of God' is a collection of writings of Brother Lawrence's profound wisdom and spiritual perception. This translation includes Spiritual Maxims and an author biography.
