A lizard is delighted with their whole bag of perfect presents for a slightly unusual friend, owl. At first things don’t seem to be going well…The owl wolfs down each one and reaches out greedily for the lizard itself! With comic tension and a funny twist, the reader thinks the lizard may get eaten, but all turns out well in the end. The story finishes with a big kiss and a cup of peppermint tea: “Perfect presents,” says the friend. “Just to my taste!”

Anke Kuhl is one of Germany’s leading children’s book illustrators, whose awards include the German Youth Literature Award in 2011. She has illustrated Do Animals Fall in Love?, Tell Me and Anybody.
