The book addresses how SAP S/4HANA models the business processes tied to each of the following business functions and highlights their integration:

• At the very least, companies are required by law to do Financial Accounting. (Discussed in details in Chapter 3)
• To operate efficiently, we can imagine that companies will also perform Management Accounting to make good decisions based on accounting information. (Discussed in details in Chapter 4)
• Most companies, especially manufacturing and trading companies, deal with materials and must handle Inventory, Warehouse Management, and Procurement. (Discussed in details in Chapters 5, 7 and 8)
• Any company with a reasonable number of employees must also perform Human Resources Management. (Discussed in details in Chapter 6)
• Manufacturing and trading companies generate revenue by selling goods to customers. These companies must also effectively manage the shipment of these goods to their customers. Therefore, these companies must manage Sales and Distribution. (Discussed in details in Chapter 9)
• Companies can also generate revenue by servicing goods sold to their customers. Such service arrangements often generate revenue via service contracts and maintenance plans (as is often the case in the automobile industry). This is accomplished using Sales for Service. (Discussed in details in Chapter 11)
• A company with manufacturing facilities certainly must perform Plant Maintenance or Enterprise Asset Management. This will encompass both routine Preventive Maintenance to reduce the risk of mechanical breakdowns (like oil changes for cars), as well as Breakdown Maintenance when things do go wrong. (Discussed in details in Chapter 10)
• In addition, companies often execute projects like constructing new manufacturing facilities, conducting sales conferences, and building new information systems. Companies therefore need to do Project Management as well. (Discussed in details in Chapter 12)
