Language evolves continuously, with semantic shifts reflecting cultural, technological, and societal changes. This book examines the mechanisms and drivers of semantic change, including metaphor, metonymy, and language contact. It explores case studies of words that have undergone significant shifts in meaning over time. The book also discusses the role of digital media and globalization in accelerating language change. It is an essential resource for linguists, researchers, and students interested in historical and sociolinguistic perspectives.
