Synopsis
This book is the last in a series of 5 on Future Engineering. It is presented in four parts and looks at areas of engineering endeavour that are shaping our future. Electrical circuits are investigated and Ohms Law is used to show how current, voltage and resistance are related. Portable power sources in the form of batteries and the need for non-polluting energy sources such as the development of solar cells are then explored. Finally, the developing field of 'intelligent' machines is introduced; here a range of engineering principles combined with computer technology are used to create machines that are able to think and act without direct human control.
