This unit also introduces the concept of probability and a strategy for drawing inferences about a population from a sample, known as the sign test. Unit 7 Factors affecting reading This unit introduces the hypothesis test, the 'z-test', which is concerned with means, rather than medians. The emphasis of this unit is on the development of statistical techniques, and, as in other units explores many of the ideas in the context of a question taken from the general area of education. PLEASE NOTE: Some of the activities in this book require the use of the statistical software package, Minitab and other module resources.
