Synopsis

The main focus of this book is the differential calculus of scalar and vector fields, that is, the study of how scalar and vector fields vary from one point to another and the final unit is on Integra The book consider scalars and vectors that have different values at different points in a region of space. For instance, you know from practical experience that the temperature in a bowl of hot soup varies quite significantly from the middle to the edge of the bowl. The book then looks at further at integra by introducing two new kinds of integrals, called area integrals and volume integrals. One of the major applications of multiple integrals is the calculation of moments of inertia. Chapters in this book are: Vector calculus including Orthogonal matrice, Scalar and vector fields and Divergence of a vector field Multiple Integrals including Area and Volume Integrals Solutions to exercises are given at the end of each chapter
