A propos du livre

Présentation de l'éditeur

The "Reader's Digest Magazine" has a long and close association with the Royal Family. This book, reproduced from the magazine archives, features the best of those accounts. There are first-person recollections - such as a Saskatchewan man's memories of the royal visit of George VI and Queen Elizabeth to Moose Jaw, Canada in 1939, profiles of family members and even a special Silver Jubilee Supplement. These are royal writings from less frenetic decades, featuring memorable insights: Prince Charles, queueing for his 5s 6d dinner at Cambridge University beneath a portrait of his ancestor, Henry VIII; the late Queen Mother laying a foundation stone as if she has just discovered a new and delightful way of spending an afternoon, plus surprising details of the household (from 1957); Sometimes, perhaps one evening in 20, she and Philip can dine alone.

Biographie de l'auteur

Jennie Bond was the BBC's royal correspondent for 14 years, covering a period of many changes for the monarchy. She is the author of Reporting Royalty, which tells the story of those years, and Elizabeth, an illustrated biography of the Queen.
