Tony Brenton was a British diplomat from 1975 to 2009, completing his career as Charge d'Affaires in Washington, and then Ambassador in Moscow. He is now a Fellow of Wolfson College Cambridge, writing a book on the Russia of Peter the Great, and is a regular commentator on contemporary Russian issues.
Sean McMeekin is Professor of History at Bard College, New York. For some years he taught at Bilkent University, Istanbul. His books include the highly successful The Berlin-Baghdad Express (Penguin), The Russian Origins of the First World War and July 1914.
Martin Sixsmith studied Russian at Oxford, Harvard, the Sorbonne and in St Petersburg, and psychology at Birkbeck and London Metropolitan University. He witnessed the end of the Cold War first hand, reporting for the BBC from Moscow during the presidencies of Gorbachev and Yeltsin. He is the author of two novels and several works of non-fiction, including Philomena and Russia: A 1,000 Year Chronicle of the Wild East.
Simon Dixon is Professor of Russian History at University College, London.
