John Townsend is a full time writer with a particular interest in helping to get boys into books. He has written both fiction and non fiction but usually focuses on non fiction. Before becoming a full time writer, John spend 25 years teaching in schools, including Head of Drama, Special Needs Coordinator and resident writer/storyteller in a primary school. As a writer he visits schools regularly to talk to children about his books. He runs boys literacy projects and has been named a 'Reading Champion' by the National Literacy Trust.
