Catalogue Note 1st edition. This sumptuous volume brings together Lewis Carroll's complete and unabridged classic sequel, released to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the first Alice book. It features magnificent, full-color illustrations by the Hans Christian Andersen Medal-winning artist Robert Ingpen, whose detailed and atmospheric work breathes new life into Carrollâs topsy-turvy world. A highly desirable modern edition for both new readers and devoted collectors of illustrated children's classics. When Alice steps through the looking-glass in the drawing room one snowy, drowsy afternoon, she finds herself in a peculiar, inverted world where chess pieces walk about, flowers talk, and nothing is quite as it seems. Alice is quickly caught up in a bizarre life-sized chess game, encountering a host of eccentric charactersâ"including the argumentative Tweedledum and Tweedledee, Humpty Dumpty, the Lion and the Unicorn, and the quick-tempered Red Queen. Full of anarchic humor, witty rhymes, and sparkling wordplay, the narrative also features iconic poems such as The Walrus and the Carpenter and Jabberwocky. N° de réf. du vendeur 4588
