FROM GERAINT THOMAS, WINNER OF THE 2018 TOUR DE FRANCE
Like no other cycling book, from no other rider - Britain's cycling star shares his unique take on the world of cycling
Sit back or saddle up as double Olympic gold medallist and multiple world champion Geraint Thomas gives you a warts and all insight into the life of a pro cyclist. Along the way he reveals cycling's clandestine codes and secret stories, tales from the peloton, the key characters like Wiggins, Hoy and Cav, the pivotal races and essential etiquette.
Geraint Thomas is treasured for treating his sport just as the rest of us see it: not a job but an escape and an adventure. He's been with Team Sky since its inception, and is one of our most successful and gifted track and road riders, but Geraint reminds us that getting on the bike still puts a smile on your face and fire in the legs like nothing else.
Funny, informative, diverting and droll, this is a joyful celebration of the world of cycling.

Geraint Thomas OBE is the winner of the 2018 Tour de France, a double Olympic gold medallist and multiple world champion who has been an indispensable part of Team INEOS since its inception. A Tour de France veteran, he had both completed the entire race with a fractured pelvis and been essential in piloting Chris Froome to the yellow jersey multiple times before his own win.
One of the most popular men in the peloton, he has watched and contributed from the inside as British cycling has been transformed over the past decade. In 2014 he won Commonwealth road race gold in Glasgow and was voted BBC Wales Sports Personality of the Year. In 2015 he became the first British rider to win the E3 Harelbeke: in 2016 he won Paris-Nice and in early 2018 won the Criterium du Dauphine.
'When you are a 12-year-old boy in Cardiff, you don't want to be rocking up in school with shaved legs'
The World of Cycling According to G is like no other cycling book, from no other rider: a thrilling group ride through the secret stories and clandestine codes, the great names and small detail, the insider tactics, pivotal races and essential etiquette.
Double Olympic gold medallist, multiple world champion and Team Sky superstar Geraint Thomas leads us inside the pro peloton, round the back roads of British cycling culture and into his constantly whirring brain - a place packed with stories of boozy nights with Wiggo and hard yards with Cav, the correct way to shave a man's legs and the remarkable restorative powers of well-made Welsh cakes.
There is a connoisseur's advice (who should do what in a breakaway?), lessons in biking protocol (ever wondered how to pee on the move?) and mandates for good cycling living (never stand when you can sit, never sit when you can lie down).
Charming and informative, diverting and droll, it is the perfect companion for anyone who has ever hugged the drops of a racing bike or relished the pros' daring deeds. Because G treats the sport just as the rest of us see it: not a job, or pharmaceutical contest, but an escape and an adventure, something that puts a grin on your face and fire in the legs like nothing else.
Besotted by bikes? Soppy for cycling? This book is for all of us riders happily in love.
