The Inter-City 125 was the brand name of British Rail's High Speed Train (HST) fleet, which was built from 1975 to 1982 and was introduced into service in 1976. The Inter-City 125 train is made up of two Class 43 power cars, one at each end of a set of carriages (the number of carriages varies by operator). The train operates at speeds of up to 125 mph in regular service, making it the fastest diesel-powered train in the world, a record it has held from its introduction to the present day. After four decades, most of the HST fleet is still in front-line service, with various UK train operators. This fascinating Inter-City 125 High Speed Train Owners' Workshop Manual looks at the evolution and anatomy of the Inter-City 125, along with details of the operation and servicing of the trains, views from drivers, and details of how the trains were modernised for the 21st century.

Hardcover. Etat : Near Fine. 1st Edition. VINTAGESTAN BOOKS Title: Inter-City 125 High Speed Train by 125 Group. Haynes Owners Workshop Manual Summary: The Inter-City 125 High Speed Train (HST) is one of Britain's most iconic diesel-powered trains, introduced by British Rail in the 1970s. Designed to run at 125 mph (201 km/h), each train consists of two Class 43 power cars with a rake of Mark 3 coaches between them. Built between 1975 and 1982, the HST transformed long-distance rail travel by reducing journey times, improving reliability, and attracting large numbers of passengers. It remains one of the most successful train designs in British railway history, with some sets still in service today. Author: 125 Group Publisher: J.H. Haynes & Co Ltd. Yeovil Year Published: 2019 Edition: 1st Edition Binding type: Hardcover ISBN: 9781785212666 Dimensions: 27cm x 21cm Notes about the 125 Group: The 125 Group is a UK railway preservation charity founded in 1994 to ensure the long-term survival of the Inter-City 125. The group restores and preserves HST power cars, coaches, and original Paxman Valenta engines, while promoting the history and engineering achievements of the fleet. One of its best-known achievements was restoring the prototype HST power car 41001 to working order under Project Miller. Today, the group continues to operate preserved HST vehicles, organise rail tours and heritage events, and educate the public about the significance of this landmark train in Britain's railway heritage.
