Terry Lane was an operational firefighter when he had this insane idea of running the London Marathon at a time when he struggled to run a bath. Fireman on the Run is a humorous account of his efforts to follow a 16-week training programme; a programme that didn't give details on how to deal with snarling dogs, or with an over-zealous race marshal, who was convinced Terry was the leader in a cross-country race that he wasn't even part of! It also looks back at numerous light-hearted events he had as a firefighter of 20 years. Why were the elderly ladies in a nursing home staring at him and laughing? Or the officer who had forgot to turn the video camera on after giving a talk on being vigilant. Humorous, light-hearted but true.
