Synopsis

Against a vividly drawn background of Spain and the Pyrenees, the Spanish Son weaves little-known historical facts into a fast-paced tale where two ordinary people are drawn into extraordinary life-threatening adventures.

After a chance conversation with his attractive cousin Anna, Jason Tickle's life is turned upside down when he heads for Catalonia to write the book he is planning about the Spanish Civil War. In a remote mountain village, with Anna by his side, he picks up the trail of her grandfather Charlie's activities in the Pyrenees in 1944, which leads him to uncover a shocking family secret. From here on he is inexorably drawn into a web of prejudice, violence and death and is forced to face up to the realities of evil. As his relationship with Anna deepens, his research leads him to Barcelona, Southern France and a terrifying climax in a remote monastery high in the Pyrenees.

In the end Jason's book turns out to be very different from the one he had originally planned...
