The conventional assumption in psychology is that our personalities consist of fixed traits that endure over time.  The present book takes issue with this over-simple idea and suggests something much more interesting and surprising, known as Reversal Theory. This proposes that we tend to switch back and forth between opposing personalities in the course of our everyday lives. Renowned psychologist and author Michael J. Apter has taught and researched in a number of universities worldwide, including Yale, Georgetown and Chicago in the United States, and Toulouse, Bergen, Cardiff and Louvain in Europe. His revolutionary work on reversal theory led him to co-found Apter International, a management consultancy company. He is the author or editor of seventeen books. He is British in origin and lives in the United States.
