Synopsis

This title supports the following learning objects of Key Stage 2 Science. Students should be taught to: Identify common appliances that run on electricity. Construct a simple electrical circuit, including cells, wires, bulbs, switches and buzzers. Recognise that a switch opens and closes a circuit and associate this with whether or not a lamp lights in a simple series circuit; associate the brightness of a lamp or the volume of a buzzer with the number and voltage of cells used in the circuit. Recognise some common conductors and insulators, and associate metals with being good conductors. Each book in this series of 10 gives students the chance to work scientifically: 1. Ask questions and use scientific enquiries and evidence to answer them 2. Set up simple practical enquiries and tests 3. Make observations, take measurements, use scientific equipment 4. Gather, record, classify and present data using scientific language, drawings, labelled diagrams and charts 5. Use results to draw conclusions, make predictions and ask new questions. This series is supported with free downloadable teacher resources and worksheets.
