Synopsis

When Sonicbond Publishing produced its first books in 2018, we didn’t expect that by 2024, we would have published over 120 new titles in our flagship On Track series. To celebrate we are pleased to present our very first printed, pocket-sized sampler. This represents a brief dive into eight of our titles in the series across a wide range of music genres, including progressive rock, indie, classic rock, folk rock, singer-songwriter and metal. Yes’ seminal Fragile album finds the band rushing to take advantage of their first success, while The Good Son by Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds, sees the much-lauded singer-songwriter and his band relocate from London to Brazil. Fairport Convention’s 1969 album Unhalfbricking, featuring the Sandy Denny classic ‘Who Knows Where The Time Goes’, is dissected, while we also discuss early Eagles on One Of These Nights. Led Zeppelin’s controversial Houses Of The Holy gets a detailed examination, followed by a look at Joni Mitchell’s exquisitely tender Blue. To complete the book, we discuss Tool’s 1996 epic Ænima and The Sensational Alex Harvey Band’s astonishing 1975 album Tomorrow Belongs To Me. Stephen Lambe is an author, publisher, and journalist. He currently writes features and reviews for Prog magazine and is an acknowledged expert on progressive rock, especially the work of Yes and Focus. His books include Yes On Track (Sonicbond, 2018) and the best-selling Citizens Of Hope and Glory: The Story Of Progressive Rock (Amberley, 2011). He lives in Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire, UK.  Now happily retired, Kevan Furbank was Managing Editor of Reach Ireland, publishers of the Irish Daily Mirror and the Irish Daily Star and a journalist on local and national newspapers for more than 40 years. He has published books on local history and written stories, articles and columns on practically every subject under the sun. This is his fifth book for Sonicbond. His music tastes encompass prog, rock, folk and jazz, and, in his spare time, he likes to pretend he can play guitar, bass, ukulele, bouzouki and keyboards. He is married with two grown-up daughters and lives in Northern Ireland. Steve Pilkington is a journalist, editor and broadcaster. He was Editor in Chief for the Classic Rock Society Magazine Rock Society and is now co-administrator of the rock website Velvet Thunder as well as presenting a weekly internet radio show called A Saucerful Of Prog. Before taking on this work full-time, he spent years writing for fanzines and an Internet music review site on a part-time basis. He has recently published Deep Purple and Rainbow On Track, The Rolling Stones On Track and Supertramp – Crime Of The Century, all for Sonicbond, and has also written the official biography of legendary guitarist Gordon Giltrap. He lives in Wigan, Lancashire, UK.
