Some parasites can alter the behavior of their intermediate hosts in order to make the hosts more likely to be captured by their predators, which are also the definitive hosts for the parasites. In this manner, the parasite is able to reach sexual maturity in the definitive host and to reproduce. In this book, the life cycles of 9 different parasites are described. Each example presents a unique way in which the behavior, and sometimes the appearance, of the intermediate host is altered to make it more vulnerable to predation. This is a children's book written by the students in Dr. Stan Eisen's senior-level course in Parasitology, BIOL 413, at Christian Brothers University.
