The following poetic compositions are offered as my personal contribution to the Edzell Church Development Project. They are the fruit of my daily musings on The Muir, and my Monday (day off) and holiday visits to historical places during my first year as Church of Scotland minister of Edzell, Lethnot and Glenesk linked with Fern, Careston and Menmuir. The Muir, for non-locals, is a wooded and parkland area adjacent to the manse on which is located the Edzell Parish Church. Here, I daily walk our bearded collie, Ben, and so often find inspiration.I make no claim to be a poet, but the following verses combine interests that are shared with congregants and communities near and far. Tested and tried in church and social media they have been well received. However, any failings and faults are mine alone. Not unexpectedly, Scottish church history features prominently, along with some theology and practice but there are many musings on local flora and fauna and other aspects of the natural environment, and on personal relationships. With love and thanks to M and the kids, and my daily walking companion who appears regularly in what follows. Thanks too to all that have made our first year and a quarter in Angus such an enlightening, encouraging and enjoyable one. Every blessing, Wayne.
