The book, Tuesday Soup, is a collection of prose poems, with a shorter section devoted just to poems. As implied by the name, prose poem, this style of writing is a prose blended with any number of poetic qualities. I use a good deal of imagery, with metaphor, simile, and other figures of speech. There's very little to no fat on a good prose poem. The fourteen writings found in this book run from six to twelve hundred words. each being compacted down with a bit of intensity. These prose poems are written in a varied style that swings from fantasy, to slipstream, to absurd, with humor weaved in to keep from being too heavy handed, or taking of myself too seriously. If there is a general theme, it would be my honest attempt to show the life we encounter through our human condition. It is a examination of our different experiences, both pain and pleasure, while looking beyond to that Greater Reality, the one that constantly tells us Life is good. Questions you've long wondered about are addressed in these writings. Such as: Why do you pat your dear old aunt on top the head like you would a cocker spaniel? Just what is Tuesday Soup? Do souls have expiration dates? Where do birds go when they die? And why do you never find one dead on the ground? Jesus has been rising up through the universe for 2000 years. Where is He going to? Where did Elvis' foreskin end up being stored? Plus a whole lot of other mysteries you've spent your life wondering about, and now are on the threshold of discovering the truth. I hope you enjoy this book, and even be inspired to pick up a pen, or sit down at a keyboard, and express yourself in a style that fits you.
