A man of East European origin is found dead by the River Thames near Hampton Court, south of London. Another person of apparently similar background was attacked while sitting on a bench by the Serpentine, a lake in London's Hyde Park. Is there a connection between the two incidents? Inspector Mason's enquiries lead him to various vacation resorts in Britain, where a series of ransom-ware attacks has occurred, and eventually to Belgrade and Pristina, capital of Kosovo, in his bid to solve these crimes.
