Synopsis

Following the historic defeat suffered by Theresa May, whose Withdrawal Agreement was rejected by the House of Commons on January 15, 2019 by the historical margin of 432 Nays to 202 Ayes, Britain's Parliament has now drifted into an impossible standstill: a government that cannot govern and deliver on its most important promise to the country, and an opposition that cannot effectively oppose or defeat the government in place. This is truly the moment when Parliament itself must seize the initiative and prove that "democracy is not failing in this country; it is under challenge, but it is also rising to the occasion", by seizing back power and charting a clear course out of this untenable deadlock. This can only be achieved on a cross-party basis, with the cooperation of Labour, the Liberal Democrats, the SNP, the Greens, and of course of those Tory MPs who still believe that our country's destiny is firmly anchored in a transformed Europe. This book explains Brexit's underlying reasons and proposes "a different kind of future" - a future where the United Kingdom finally becomes a 21st Century democracy, and where all its citizens are empowered to lead this transformation in their communities, their regions, across Britain, the European Union, and the Transatlantic Community. To do so, we address in detail the seven harrowing stages of the Brexit process over the past three years - The Shock of Revelation, The Reign of Rage, The Road to Rejection, The Dawn of Revolution, The Urgency of Resistance, The Age of Reformation, and The Moment of Redemption. We then lay out in detail a seven-stage plan showing how all of us can re-empower ourselves as proud British and European citizens, by reclaiming control together over our own lives and destinies, and by resetting our country's political compass towards a clear new heading, via a Citizens' Constitutional Convention followed by a decisive, deliberative, democratic People's Vote offering us a historic choice on our future place in Europe - a choice to either "Reject and Retrench" or "Remain and Transform". It us up to us to seize the moment and carry the day, as did the wise and courageous men who came before us, at the turn of the 19th Century - men who managed to truly create a different kind of future not only for themselves, but for many generations to come, all the way up to today. It is wholly within our power to choose at present whether we wish to become either the final generation, squandering the legacy they bequeathed us, or rather, like them, a transformational generation, that through our new and innovative ideas judiciously put into action, will continue the virtuous cycle we benefitted from ourselves, and thus bequeath to our children and grand-children a time without partitions where what is real and what is true happily coincide.
