Josh is a porn addicted loser who lives with his parents. He expects to become a famous film-maker one day, but for now he is working at the supermarket. It’s only temporary, he’s off travelling soon. Everything will be easier when he’s travelling. He decides to make a film about work before he leaves, filmed and released in secret. What’s the worst that could happen? The film features Dave, one of the delivery drivers, who is married to Louise. They are happy enough together, plodding along through life, satisfied with their lot. Mostly. Josh edits the film to make it seem that Dave is having an affair with a younger colleague, Sally-Ann, one of the trainee managers.Dave and Louise watch the film, and so begins their downward spiral. Old rifts and hurts come to the fore, and questions that were buried by the years together begin to resurface.Meanwhile, Sally-Ann is struggling with her own battles. Helped along by a disturbing chat with Josh about one of his new film ideas, she is questioning her belief in God, her purpose in life, her motivation and direction. She is also beginning her first relationship, and struggling through the uncertainties of love and sex.The story continues. Each of the characters, telling the story of their intertwined lives with their own voice, take us along for the ride, encountering despair, art, drugs, love, psychosis, the medical establishment, purpose, and possibly redemption. The Faces is a story that deals with the power of media, the nature of relationships in a modern world, and contemplates some of life's fundamental questions.
