Synopsis

We are often called a visionary people. We are not ashamed to accept the impeachment. The Bible is a book of visions and its noblest characters were all a visionary people. Abraham’s life was all inspired by the visions Jehovah gave him of the land of his inheritance and the seed of promise as countless as the stars of heaven and the sand on the seashore. Joseph’s life began with his early dreams of faith and hope, and but for these he would have often sunk in the dark hour of his unspeakable sorrow. Moses’ ministry began in the vision of the burning bush, and the last act of his life was to look out over the land of promise and see afar the destinies and glories of the nation he had loved and led. David never could have endured the trials and perils of Saul’s bitter persecutions had he not known in advance that he was God’s anointed king, and seeing afar off the vision of his own throne and the glory of the greater King and the Millennial Age of which he and his kingdom were the foreshadowings. Where you look you will be sure to go. Like the fine line of the sight of a rifle the bullet follows the aim; so in spiritual advances we must look with keen and concentrated vision at the point we expect to attain. The Heavenly Vision is one of Simpson's more rare writings. It contains seven chapters that aim to give us an upward look, a closer walk with the Lord, and to lead us to be a people of Heavenly Vision.
