It is estimated that 14,500 to 17,500 people, primarily women, and children, are trafficked to and from the U.S. annually. Trafficking primarily involves exploitation which comes in many forms, including: forcing victims into prostitution, subjecting victims to slavery or involuntary servitude, and compelling victims to commit sex acts for the purpose of creating pornography. According to the U.S. State Department, 600,000 to 800,000 people are trafficked across international borders every year, of which 80% are female and half are children. When a string of kidnappings are brought to the attention of the FBI; Special Agent Angie Bartoni is put in charge of the team to find the traffickers and free the captives. They allude Angie and her team on several occasions, but they are able to pick up the trail each time. It becomes a race against time to free the girls before they are shipped overseas.
