Synopsis
Now that Gyrfalon and Falk are united, the Archbishop asks them to find a way of distinguishing which of two cardinals applying to be chancellor to the king is the genuine one. Naturally, their methods are ... unconventional. In the meantime the king’s son has run away from court... Back in the north, the barbarians are feeling their oats, and are looking eagerly towards raiding season. Delivering a lesson harsh enough to keep them from invading for a goodly while requires Gyrfalon’s ingenuity. His knowledge of engineering seems like magic to the barbarians and with the aid of Church Knights, brought by Falk and Jehanne, the horde is stopped dead for the first time ever. This martial prowess allied with the compassion and healing magic of Gyrfalon’s wife, Annis, even convinces some of the barbarians to join Gyrfalon’s men. Meanwhile a new bandit leader has arisen who calls himself the ‘new Gyrfalon’. The nuns to whom Annis owes her life have come under threat from this man whom others call ‘the impaler’. Only united can the Falconburg brothers meet and overcome these challenges, choosing to share the use of the family’s magic sword.
