Synopsis

This collection of essays, articles, and speeches sits at the intersection of deeply traditional rabbinic texts and radically progressive Jewish values. The essays in this book are written with fine scholarship and a deep commitment to the way that faith informs our lives. However, they are also crafted with humility, kindness, and a significant portion of personal courage. In these essays Rabbi Mike Moskowitz gives us access to part of his own story and many of his brilliant ideas, all of which serve as tools for bridging the divide that religion often places between us and each other, us and God, and even us and ourselves. If you are a person who longs for a life informed by authentic faith and meaningful activism, especially as it involves including and celebrating the transgender community in religious spaces, this book is for you. - Rev. Dr. Amy K. Butler Senior Minister, The Riverside ChurchRabbi Mike Moskowitz has taken the directive to pursue justice to heart. Leveraging his vast Yeshivah knowledge to uncover and expand our tradition's wisdom and teachings, his groundbreaking contributions are wide-ranging. From consent and allyship to gender and immigration, Rabbi Moskowitz's words are driven by his profound commitment to seeing people as God has created us, in God's own image. - Seth M.
