Synopsis
Rival consortiums are locked in a cut throat battle to control the offshore petroleum deposits in a turbulent Carribbean nation. Simon Fallows, a prominent American businessman with military expertise is contracted to evaluate the effectiveness of a guerrilla column being financed by one of these companies. He accepts, due to his private agenda. The mission will take him back to Palo Rojo where 30 years previously he had been a stranded merchant seaman berachcomber shacked up with a lovely dusky strip tease artist that he abandoned under ugly circumstances.In Palo Rojo he will meet by sheer chance Caroline Lamb, a beautiful relatively young Principal who after a sad ending to an affair has accepted a position as head mistress of the private academy for the privileged children of this violent port. In spite of her initial hatred of labor unions Caroline Lamb finds herself becoming a defender and champion of the abused and exploited women of the Palo Rojo Industrial zone. Fallows will also meet Jack Bravo, a 29 year old thug with a criminal background in the employ of Daniel Corso, a sinister tycoon who controls the prostitution, drug smuggling, and all the other rackets in this sweltering jungle port. Corso, as a hobby, also enjoys tormenting pawns in sadistic and manipulative games.
