Synopsis

Louise Dantzler is the daughter of a senior Queen, Elizzie and an Elder or Holy man known as Papa. Her parents were enslaved coming from Africa at the turn of the century. They brought with them their native religion, known as Yoodoo, which is based on the Holy Bible and Christianity. However, Elizzie dies and Papa is left to raise Louise, her sister and two brothers. He solicits the aid of the Yoodoo Queens and Matrons to teach Louise the ways of the Yoodoo women as he understands she is in the direct bloodline for Queenship. This title, Senior Queen is never relinquished as the position is non-negotiable. Louise doesn’t feel obligated to fill the shoes of her Mother and Grandmothers before her. She only wishes to live her life with her husband Tom and to raise her own family in her own way. That notion is short lived, and Louise is enthralled into a world of Lightness versus Darkness. As she molds the community into her idea of Yoodooism, she meets several interesting women and men along the way. She must rely on her wit, upbringing and God to help her make it through safely for her final reward.When you’re alone, totally isolated yet at peace, or maybe you think you’re at peace; maybe you’re minding your own business or just listlessly sitting beside a body of water. All these symptoms lead toward the narrator for “The Keyhole” series. Can you guess who or what that is?The author, JoAn Gilmore Jackson was born in Dumas, Arkansas in 1954. She was the twelfth child of her Mother Alcurtis Dantzler Gilmore and the third of her Father Reverend Willie Gilmore. She heard tales of strange happenings in and along the Creek that ran behind their home, separating their farm from neighbors and friends. Some of the tales were so destructive to her psyche that she could not forget about them and is even now haunted by them. She lives in Pueblo, Colorado with her husband George and is the Mother of two. She has several grandchildren, the youngest, Wayne who loves to hear about her books and stories. Believing still that she lives in a haunted house—being the home she grew up in from around age six until now. Mrs. Jackson says her deceased parents, especially her Mother visits her frequently, and she is not afraid.A graduate of Colorado State University-Pueblo, Mrs. Jackson earned a degree (Cum Laude) in English with emphasis in Creative Writing. This book, The Keyhole Book Three/God is Still on the Throne is the final of “The Keyhole” trilogy. When asked why she thought of this book series, JoAn Gilmore Jackson said, “I wanted to tell this story and leave it to the Readers to digest whether it’s believable or not. If it makes you wonder about the uneasiness in your spirit, I think I’ve done a good job. And if you stay awake at night, I’ve done an excellent job.
