Anthony V. Capildeo FRSL is a Trinidadian Scottish writer of poetry and non-fiction. Often site-specific, and at home in Caribbean, Scottish, Irish, and East Anglian built and natural environments, Capildeo’s work brings loving attention to every place, from the Ubatuba granite of the Henry Moore Institute in Leeds to the dragon-blessed waters of Lake Biwa in Japan. Capildeo’s work has been recognized with awards including the Windham-Campbell Prize, the OCM Bocas Prize for Poetry, the Saltire National Poetry Award, the Forward Poetry Prize for Best Collection, and the Cholmondeley Award. Capildeo is Professor and Writer in Residence at the University of York, an Honorary Student of Christ Church, Oxford, where they read for a DPhil in Old Norse and translation theory, a Lay Dominican in the Edinburgh fraternity, and a friend of Belmont Exotic Stylish Sailors.
