<p><strong>John Xiao Zhang</strong> was born in Northeast China in 1949. He undertook a variety of jobs during the Cultural Revolution before going to University and then becoming a lecturer at Beijing Language University. He moved to the UK in 1988 and has since worked as a lecturer and freelance writer. He has previously published books on Shakespeare and other literary subjects.</p>
