Synopsis

WINNER OF THE GOLDEN WIZARD BOOK PRIZE BOOK OF THE YEAR 2022

Following the recovery of the crown jewels with the help of Poppy, Lord Ted, and the fairies of Diddlesdale woods, most of the now infamous gang are now behind bars and the priceless collection has been returned to Queen Elizabeth. Everyone can now concentrate on the royal wedding.

After an initial shock, Poppy meets new friends and her best friend called Rosie at her new school and life seems to be so comfortable.

This is T.M Jorden's second novel, the sequel to The Adventures of Poppy and Lord Ted: The First Summer, and we see a much grittier storyline as the character behind the initial crown jewels robbery comes to the fore. Saint Nick is determined to get his hands on the jewels, repay his investors and live the rest of his life in luxury. He has an unexpected helping, yet reluctant hand to gain access to the jewels new temporary home and is under severe pressure from his Russian backers to deliver the goods.

But Assistant Chief Constable Mary Underberry and her team have other ideas. They are determined to capture Mary's number one target but have very little to go on - Saint Nick is a criminal mastermind at the top of his game, and they struggle to keep up with him. Finally, a trap is set to bring the notorious criminal to justice but when it goes horribly wrong Poppy puts herself and Lord Ted in mortal danger to save the future of the British Monarchy.

Grandparents will relate to the joy of sharing time with their grandchildren and parents with their children as more family fun and adventure are underpinned by the core values of kindness, love, honesty and respect. A true adventure showing the differences between right and wrong.

The winners and finalists were announced on BBC Radio. The competition, which closed on the 25th anniversary of World Book Day (2022), received hundreds of entries and the children's imaginations ran wild. There were two age group categories - KS1 and KS2. The lucky winner of each category has their character written into the story. All the finalists received a signed copy at the book launch.
