Simon Akam is the co-host of Always Take notes and author of The Changing of the Guard: the British Army since 9/11. His journalism has appeared in the Guardian, the London Review of Books, the New Yorker, The Economist, The New York Times, GQ, the Atlantic and more.

Rachel Lloyd is the co-host of Always Take Notes and deputy Culture editor of The Economist. As well as commissioning and editing the online culture features, Rachel writes reviews and essays for the newspaper and website.
