Nordheim: a medieval world of constant battle. Where war is the only currency that matters and the only person who wants the war to end is the very man who started it.
Banou, heir to the blood-soaked homeland known as the Drift, has never stopped searching for her stolen family enslaved by a ruthless raider. She now fights alongside the ageing warrior known as the Teacher in a war between the usurper King Moralles and the rightful Prince Marco. Yet beneath the spectacle lies a darker truth: Moralles profits from the slave trade that feeds both armies, and the war is far too lucrative to end.
In a land where honour is twisted and freedom has a price, survival demands blood, courage and the will to stand against a kingdom built on chains.

David J Harrison only realised that The Lord of the Rings had been read to him as a sleeping infant when, as a child, he sought an explanation for its familiarity. More consciously, he was brought up on a diet of classic science fiction and fantasy, most notably the stories of Robert E. Howard and Fritz Leiber. He lives in Cambridge with his wife and children, who he stops reading to when they fall asleep.
