Synopsis

Be careful what you wish for. Dorothea is a bitter woman. She blames her sister for stealing her first and only love and suspects her husband of infidelity soon after they are married. What is a woman to do? She asks for help from a healer steeped in witchcraft from which point her life spirals downwards until she ends up owning a third-rate hotel in a non descript Scottish village. Her only comfort is whisky. Her fury is aroused when her sister moves back to Edinburgh.
Into this emotional maelstrom bumbles Brendan, a reluctant therapist specialising in spiritual issues. Brendan is already up to his neck in his own problems:- dumped by his girlfriend, his heart aching for a woman now living abroad, chatting up every woman he meets and plagued by insulting and ultimately threatening text messages. To make matters worse, his brother lurks in the background sowing unease wherever he treads. His mind in turmoil and unsure of what he is supposed to be doing, he ends up putting his feet where they are not wanted.
It is down to Ruth, his estranged assistant to step in. Intrigued by the opportunity to deal with a curse, she sets aside her antipathy towards Brendan, rolls her sleeves up and wades in. Yet, she too has her own distractions, principally the spirit of Margar whom she has taken on board who, while giving her strength and confidence, chafes for more control.
If he is to help, Brendan needs to pull himself together, otherwise the future looks bleak for Dorothea. And should Ruth have been careful what she wished for given Margar has her own agenda?
Gripping and packed with intrigue from the first page to the last, this stunning paranormal thriller will make you question what you can ever really believe.
